To ensure a fair and efficient screening process, please note the following requirements for applicants:
- Applicants must have at least 30% of their gross monthly income available to cover rent.
- Social Security and government assistance income is grossed up by 25% to ensure fairness in the qualification process.
- A $35 credit and background check, per applicant, (paid online by the applicant) is required prior to approval. This screening verifies landlord history, credit standing, and monthly income.
- We do not rent to individuals who owe money to the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, including outstanding balances with the Sault Tribe Housing Authority or any other tribal department.
- Sawyer Village is not a low-income or subsidized housing provider. Tenants must be able to pay rent and utilities independently and have strong references.
